Winston approaches the subject with more than a little humor, self observation, and stories that many of us can connect to. I felt conflicted by the nature of the virtue signaling throughout the book, especially since most of the information on Black and brown queer and trans authors was relegated to footnotes, or squeezed in between forced humor. Greedy shows us that being bisexual is about so much more than who you’re sleeping with — it’s about finding stability in a state of flux, and defining yourself on your own terms.

Each essay feels more like a conversation with a friend as you get to know them better and better through silly anecdotes and tough traumas. Reading Greedy is like hanging out with your coolest friend--the one who knows where to find the best party in Amsterdam and the most important protest in New York; the one with the wildest stories, the perfect reading suggestions, and hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers. I’d probably avoid this one in future, and stick to Roger Hargreaves’s John Mouse books, which have aged far more gracefully than all the Mr Men books I’ve read in the 2020s. If we work of the principle of the golden rule (and not the one that says that he who has the gold, makes all the rules) then gluttony isn't necessarily a problem as the only person whom you are hurting is yourself (though this doesn't take into account family and dependants).

Even now I can appreciate both the originality and simplicity of these books, and I still find them entertaining to read.Now with her partner H, her two sons and her fur babies to contend with, every day is a joyful new lesson in learning to love herself again.
