Black witches were seen as evil because of their ability to gain power from death, and while many embraced that sordid side of magic it didn’t mean they were all evil. The world building was well done enough that I thought the book would be more so a world driven plot (events happening in the world) rather than the character driven plot it was. Welcome to one of the many stops on the book blitz for Kiss of Darkness by Taylor Aston White with XPresso Book Tours. Bones' grandsire and co-ruler of their lines, and a hugely powerful vampire, and how his life is turned around by Kira. Their voices were clear and understandable and it was a pleasure listening to them narrate this novel. We pay respect to the Elders past, present and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.I will also add that I am someone that likes to listen and read at the same time and the version on kindle and the audible version were extremely different. Without even looking up, the doctor flung back one of his arms, slamming Santini against the chest and sending him flying across the room. I just could not read fast enough to satisfy my complete obsession with Xander and Kyra and their journey through this complicated fantasy world created by Taylor. I wish I had known going in that, while this IS the first book in the series, it is a spin-off series to another, fully completed series that is referenced heavily throughout.
What the author wrote was really good but I just personally think it would have benefited from some more.She was ashen and shaking, and looked as if she had gone entirely stupid, as if her mind had burned within her skull. I didn’t feel like I got to connect with the characters and their relationship felt a little rushed for me. So when he’s forced into protecting her, he must put aside his prejudice and ignore his growing desire that’s an insult to his past. He is battling his beast who wants to claim Kyra and Xander wants the complete opposite but finds he can't live without her.
On your way home from your first day on the case, you pass a strange man and suddenly you feel a slight pain on your neck. I enjoyed this story and would like to see where it goes next, but I would definitely want to read the original series first.
